Graduation: Biomedical Engineering at University of Pavia

Supervisor: Prof.ssa Stefania Marconi

Thesis topic: Research focused on the multiphysics simulation of laser–tissue interaction in the human eye, through the development of numerical models integrating optical and thermal phenomena. Ray tracing techniques were employed to describe laser propagation and energy deposition, coupled with thermal analysis to predict temperature distributions in the ocular fundus and assess laser-induced effects. In parallel, research activities addressed laser-activated shape memory polymers for ophthalmic applications, investigating their response to localized heating and enabling controlled, minimally invasive actuation.
