Biography

Francesco Pasqualini is Associate Professor of Industrial Bioengineering at the University of Pavia and Principal Investigator of the Synthetic Physiology Laboratory. After training in biomedical engineering in Italy, he moved to Boston and Zurich to study cardiovascular tissue engineering at the Harvard Wyss Institute and the Wyss Translational Center. His work combines stem-cell engineering, extracellular matrix design, live microscopy, and computational modeling to understand and control how human cells generate tissue structure and function. Funded by the European Research Council, his group develops engineered human-cell platforms to study heart development, tissue mechanics, and disease-relevant processes for precision and regenerative medicine.
